Introduction

Information The Walk Postscript

This is by way of a personal diary and by no means a guide

After weeks of preparation, gradually increasing both the miles and the weight carried, we arranged with a shuttle service to park the car in Kirkby Stephen and transport us to the beginning of the walk in St.Bees. At the end of the walk, they will pick us up at Robin Hood's Bay and return us to Kirkby Stephen.

We travel overnight and arrive in Kirkby Stephen at 3.25am. Slight miscalculation there but it does give us the chance to get our heads down for a while.

We board the bus at 8.30 am. The bus is full. Most people are bed and breakfasting judging by the size of their packs.

We arrive at St.Bees. This is our first long distance walk. We do not know what to expect but just hope that all the training and preparation will be worth while.

We get off the bus ................
